Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) warned donors over the weekend that Democrats will suffer significant losses this November if President Joe Biden remains the party’s presidential nominee.
Schiff reportedly met with donors privately at a fundraiser in New York, arguing that Biden would both lose to former President Donald Trump and negatively impact down-ballot races — with Democrats likely to lose the Senate and fail to retake the House.
“I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose,” Schiff said during the meeting, a person with access to a transcription of a recording of the event told the New York Times. “And we may very, very well lose the Senate and lose our chance to take back the House.”
Schiff’s campaign declined to comment to the Washington Examiner.
